China-Laos Power Interconnection Builds Energy Network

The China-Laos 500 kV Power Interconnection Project links Laos' Oudomxay Province and China's Xishuangbanna via a 183.5-kilometer cross-border transmission line. Upon completion in 2026, it will enable two-way electricity exchange with a capacity of 1.5 million kilowatts.During construction on the Chinese side, heavy-lift drones and helicopters were deployed to transport materials, achieving "zero road access" for 88% of the work areas. This approach not only supports clean energy transmission but also protects the rainforest, balancing development with environmental conservation.
