The elephant-foot drum dance is the oldest

The elephant-foot drum dance is the oldest, most popular and most distinctive mass dance of the Dai people. Its accompaniment instruments are mainly elephant-foot drums, gongs and cymbals. There are not many dance movements, but the characteristics are outstanding. It is graceful and flexible, simple and vigorous, with passionate and unrestrained emotions, and a combination of hardness and softness. In 2008, the "Dai elephant-foot drum dance" was selected as the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage traditional dance list.
