In Cikai Town, Gongshan County, Nujiang Prefecture, Yu Zhengju, a Lisu woman, makes her way to the training ground every morning with the support of a crutch. There, she lifts heavy barbells again and again on the weightlifting platform. Despite mobility challenges, she supports her family by raising poultry, making traditional ethnic clothing, and running a lemon tea stall. Through weightlifting, she has found the strength to support her household. In 2017, she won the women's 60kg weightlifting title at the Nujiang Prefecture Disabled Persons' Athletics Games, and she is now actively training for new competitions. This resilient mother proves that even when life feels heavy, one can still lift their own hopes.
