In Tuanjie Village, Suijiang County, Yunnan, villagers have developed a unique planting method — intercropping peanuts among longan trees and cornfields. This “one land, double harvest” model makes the most of the farmland’s potential. Villager Zhang Youbing planted peanuts under his 1 acre of longan trees this year, earning an extra 15,000 yuan. The locally grown peanuts are plump, fragrant, and sweet, and are sold through e-commerce platforms to cities like Shanghai and Zhejiang. Today, the village’s intercropped area exceeds about 165 acres, and these little peanuts have truly become the villagers’ “golden beans” for increasing income.
