Deep in the moss-covered trunks of Xiaoheishan in Longling, Yunnan, clusters of snow-white, inverted lanterns suddenly emerge—this is the "White-flowered Pleione" (Pleione albiflora). This orchid species is found only in the region stretching from the Himalayas to the Hengduan Mountains, primarily distributed in Yunnan and northern Myanmar. It has been assessed as a Critically Endangered species worldwide.
