After the banding work started at Jinshan Yakou, Ailao Mountain, Yuxi, Yunnan, the banding team was surprised to find a Hainan bittern, which is the third consecutive year that the species has been monitored. The Hainan bittern is a national first-class protected animal, with only about 1,000 left in the world, and is known as the "most mysterious bird in the world." The staff took photos, recorded and banded this rare bird, and installed a GPS satellite positioning device for it to monitor its migration and reproduction, helping to protect this endangered species.
