During the National Day, Lianghe County, Dehong, Yunnan, ushered in the celebration of the Farmers' Harvest Festival and the Wa New Rice Festival. The New Rice Festival is one of the ancient traditional folk festivals of the Wa people. The purpose is to celebrate the harvest, taste delicacies, and showcase the Wa farming culture. Every year when the new rice is ripe, the local Wa people hold celebrations, start harvesting rice, welcome the new rice, worship their ancestors, sing and dance, and thank nature for its generous gifts. After a series of solemn blessing ceremonies, songs and dances such as "Celebrating the Harvest", "Pulling Yangko", and "Wooden Drum Song" were performed in turn, and the stage resonated with people of all ethnic groups wearing gorgeous ethnic costumes, singing and dancing.
