In the New Year of the Year of the Dragon, the Nanjian section of Yunnan Wuliangshan National Nature Reserve welcomes good news: a rare baby Western Black-crested Gibbon is born!
On the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, the ranger recorded this heartwarming moment. The baby ape is nestled in its mother's arms, while other little apes are playing in the trees, and the beautiful Wuliang Mountain is reborn.
The Western Black-crested Gibbon is a national first-level protected animal. It is extremely endangered and has extremely high requirements on the ecological environment. It is mainly distributed in Wuliang Mountain and Ailao Mountain in Yunnan. Currently, there are about 1,800 Western Black-crested Gibbons in 374 groups in China.
