On March 27, the Kunming Dianchi Plateau Lake Research Institute and the Dali University bird research team discovered a large bird, a bald stork, in the Haifeng Wetland near the mouth of Dianchi Lake. 

The bald stork is a bird of the order Storkidae, in the same family as the stork, but its body is very tall, measuring 110 cm, which is larger than the stork (about 80 cm).  The bald stork is the most peculiar bird species among storks. It has an extremely large beak, extremely long legs, a nearly naked head and neck, sparse and short brown-gray down feathers, black wings, back and tail, and white underparts.
