The Regulations of Yunnan Province on Administration of Border Control Come into Effect

On January 1 2017, the Regulations of Yunnan Province on Administration of Border Control have taken effect. The Regulations clearly define the main law enforcement statuses and authorities of provincial ports, border crossings, Immigration Inspection Stations, as well as the limits of their duties and powers. The regulations also authorize those agencies to punish those involved in human trafficking or those who illegally assists others in entering and exiting the border areas, those who cross the borders without proper supporting papers, and those who illegally sets private passes and ferry crossings will be severely punished too. The regulations have also stipulated rules concerning border residents’ short-term stay, long-term residence in China, employment and mixed marriage.
Until now, China has not yet issued any special laws on Administration of Border Control. Therefore, the drafting, enacting, and implementing of the Regulations of Yunnan Province on Administration of Border Control have been regarded as a good and useful attempt to issue relevant legislation in the future.
