On May 5th, streams of vehicles run through the sea of Jacaranda flowers.
Jacarandas are recently in full blossom on the Middle Jiaochang Road of Kunming, Yunnan Province. Under the blue sky and white cloud, the purple-blue flowers with petals fluttering like snowflakes in the wind are extremely beautiful, attracting many people to take photos under the trees.
Jacaranda was first introduced to Kunming in 1984 from Algeria by the Kunming Institute of Botany of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is tall and beautiful. With a good adaptability to Kunming’s environment, it blooms during late spring and early summer, and the florescence may last for about 10 to 20 days.
