Recently, 2017 “Kaiyangmen” (the first day to celebrate rice seedlings transplanting) Live-action Farming Culture Festival is celebrated as scheduled at Hani village in Yuanyang County of Yunnan Province. Shutterbugs and more than 3,000 tourists from at home and abroad came celebrating this Hani traditional festival with the local ethnic people.
In the tradition of Hani nationality, the first day of transplanting rice seedlings each year is called “Kaiyangmen”. On this day, everyone, men and women, old and young, wears new clothes and brings good food and wine, as well as the glutinous rice dyed with daylily to the rice field, and along with seedlings transplanting songs, the elderly or the prestigious people in the village remove the first bunch of rice seedlings to wish a good harvest of this year. After that, people begin with transplanting rice seedlings in paddy fields. The youths plant rice seedlings singing antiphonally, while the old and the children join in merry-making by the side of the field.
